The James Douglas Show

The James Douglas Show
Substance and creativity have recently been absent from the ideals of popular music, and with albums and compact discs being quickly replaced by downloadable music and file sharing, musicianship is no longer the standard by which careers are made. Popular music is no longer determined by the talent and character of the artists, but rather the marketability and the profit that can be gained by these acts in today’s music market. However, there is a new era fast approaching in the field of creative music. The old ideals that allowed legends like James Brown, Michael Jackson, and Prince to achieve such longevity is coming back to the forefront with artists like Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, and John Legend.

The James Douglas Show, a pioneering band in the genres of alternative soul and new-school funk, is one of many national acts attempting to bring the old-school creative mentality to a new breed of artists. Currently based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, The James Douglas Show has garnered national attention not only because of their ability to entertain audiences of almost every demographic, but also because of their tight and precise musicianship. The James Douglas Show’s music not only appeals to listeners of R&B, funk, soul, and old-school, but the band has also won over fans of pop, rock, and even smooth jazz.

The James Douglas Show was formed in 2002 by Houston native James Douglas, who made a name for himself as a singer and songwriter in Los Angeles, and Albuquerque native Marco Nunez, who had a successful stint in Los Angeles as a studio drummer. Albuquerque bassist Howard Cloud and keyboardist Phil Baca comprised the preliminary lineup for the band. - continued -
